Matt x Reader : You're at my side!(death note) p.2

    I opened my eyes wide after the nightmare I had. I put the back of my hand on my forehead and swept the remaining sweat. I took deep breathes and slowly trying to calm down. I scanned the room and I saw that I had pushed my covers to the floor. I sighed and sat up. ‘Again the same dream.’ I thought and looked at the clock at the wall. My eyes widened. It was 7:30. I stood up and ran to the bathroom to take a shower. After ten minutes at the bathroom I ran back to my room and searched for my uniform. I spotted and started getting dress. I gathered my books and papers putting them at the school bag and ran downstairs.

   I was about to get to the kitchen when I stubbed to someone causing me to fall to the floor. I shook my head and tried to come back to reality. I looked across me and saw … Matt? He was at the floor too. He looked at me and smiled. “Good morning.” He said and stood up. He offered me his hand and I refused to take it. I was about to pick up my bag but he did it first. I thought that he would give it to me but instead he hid behind his back. I crossed my arms and looked at him.

“You can’t be serious.” I said and he grinned in response. I sighed and put my hands on my hips. “Come on Matt give it back. I’m late already.” I said but he shook his head.

“You want it? You have to pay for it.” He said and I shook my head. “So you don’t want it back.” He smirked and sighed in annoyance.

“Matt don’t be such a child. I’ll late and I’ll be punished by my teacher.” I said trying to reason with his sensitive side. And after that I learnt there wasn’t such side. He smirked again and took a few steps closer to me.

“Kiss me.” I heard him said not demanded. My face became red and my breathe was heavy. He laughed unable to hide it anymore.

“What … is so funny?” I shouted to him while I was red like tomato. He kept laughing and gave my bag back to me. He walked back to the gaming room. I looked at his back as he walked away. ‘What’s wrong with him anyway?’ I thought. I looked back at my watch and I almost screamed. “I’m late.” I shouted and ran to the door to leave but Matt blocked my path. I gave him a death glare and he smirked back. “Matt out of the way I’m terribly late.” I shouted and tried to push him out of the way.

“Relax Lolita. I’ll give you a ride.” He said and I looked at him for a while to realize what he just said. “Are you going to come or what?” he said and I grabbed his hand and dragged him outside. I pushed him to his red car and he unlocked it. He got on and waved me to do the same.

“Matt please let’s gets going. My school isn’t far from the center and this time of the day the streets are packed.” I pleaded him and he chuckled rather darkly but I ignored it.

    I could believe it just I got through. It has been five minutes since he left the house to get to my school. Matt was the craziest driver I had ever seen. We must have broken the law a couple of times but I didn’t care really. I asked him to bring me here quickly and he did it. I still had five minutes left before the bell rang. Matt lighted his cigarette and turned his gaze to me. He still wore those goggles. “Have a nice day at school.” He said and my heart beat like crazy. My cheeks turned into a red color and a goofy smiled appeared at my face.

“Thank you.” I said trying to hide my blush which I failed because he chuckled.

“You better get going before to get late. I don’t want the teacher to punish you. That’s my job and I won’t allow it to anyone.” He said and I frowned. I changed my mind he was the biggest idiot I had ever seen. I smiled and leaned closer to him. He looked shocked by my action so I kept smiling.

“I know. O … and before I forget here is your reward for bringing me.” I whispered and gave him a pack at the cheek. I could see his eyes widening even if he wore his goggles and a small red shady appeared at his cheeks. I giggled and got off the car and closed the door behind me. I turned back and bowed my head a little to face him through the door’s window. I gave him a sweet smile before I spoke. “And do have a nice day.” I said and ran at my school gate leaving behind speechless.

  I made it in time for my first class and all the day I had a goofy smile at my face. My friends found rather weird but still they were pleased about it especially Rima. The bell rang which meant it was launch time. I opened my bag to pick up my lunch which was what it left from yesterday but instead of that I found a … note. I opened the note and read it.

‘Hey Lolita,
Sorry I’m telling you this but I need the staff you had here. So you can starve or you can just use you money to buy to yourself something to eat. I’m terribly sorry about it.

Yours Matt.’

  I kept reading the note and I tried my best to keep myself from screaming. I torn the note into million pieces and threw outside the window. ‘When I get my hands on him I’ll …’ my thoughts were interrupted by my phone ringing. I opened it and saw that I didn’t know this number. I read the message anyway and saw it was from Matt. ‘Perfect timing I am going to kill him.’ I thought and made my way to the gate.

  I saw him outside his car playing at his console and with a cigarette at his mouth. I got closer but I couldn’t pass the closed gate so I had to call him. “Matt!” I shouted and he came over me without his gaze leaving the console. I crossed my arms and tapped my foot. “I hope you know that if it weren’t this gate between us I woul-“but before I could continue my sentence he showed me a brown bag.

“Take it.” He said and I slowly took it from him. I opened it and my eyed widened. It was full of food. I looked back at him confused and I could say even shocked but he didn’t move his eyes away from the video game.

“How did you … why did you …?” I said barely above a whispered. I couldn’t bring myself to form a whole sentence. He just continued playing his game like a little boy.

“I took your food this morning when I stole your bag.” He said and started pushing some bottoms really hard and fast. “So I brought you some lunch.” I heard him saying and before I could say anything he spoke again but this time it wasn’t loud as before. “I liked what you cooked last night.” He whispered to himself. I smiled sweetly and he started walking back to his car. I waved to him and turned to leave.

‘It’s like I have a big brother or something similar.’ I thought and laughed. ‘I don’t mind it either way.’ I kept thinking as I walking back to my classroom. My smile never left my lips and I greeted everyone with it. And I got a smile back from everyone I spoke with. I entered to my classroom and sat at my desk. I was daydreaming because I didn’t notice Rima coming to my way.

“Who was that?” I heard her shouting to me and snapped out of my daydreaming. I looked at her or maybe glared her warning her to keep her voice down. She sat at the front desk which happened to belong to her and leaned closer to me. “Why are you so happy? Is this guy your boyfriend?” I blushed only by mentioning the word boyfriend. “So he is. I hurt you didn’t trust me.” She said and I shook my head.

“Slow down will you.” I whispered back and leaned my face at the palm of my hand. “He’s a … cousin of mine. He came yesterday.” I lied and she smiled. “Why are you smiling?” I asked confused.

“I don’t believe it that you have a cousin like that and you haven’t introduced us yet. He’s totally my type.” She said and suddenly became … angry but why. “It’s perfect. You and Jack will be a couple and me and …” she paused and looked at me. “What’s he name anyway?” she asked and I looked away. I didn’t want to share him with anyone for some odd reason. Was I jealous? No, no there was no away. I was in love with Jack. I turned my attention back to her and smiled.

“His name is Matt.” I said and her smile became bigger. Not to mention that her cheeks were red like a tomato. I sighed in annoyance and ignored my friend’s bubbling.  I turned my gaze to Jack. He was sitting with his friends and laughed. I loved the way he was laughing. It reminded me how my father would always smile when he was home. I missed the sound of it. Matt’s laugh was also quite familiar with dad’s. O … god what I was thinking. I almost slapped myself. Jack saw me and smiled. I blushed and turned my gaze outside the window ashamed that he saw me staring.

“Hey ____?” Rima called me sweetly and softly. I looked at her and she pointed the brown bag. “Aren’t you going to eat?” she said and I nodded. I opened the bag and grabbed the sandwich and the apple juice. I would have taken the chocolate but I thought Mello would like to have her.

    After that the time passed really quickly and the bell finally rang for the last time signaled us that it was time for us to leave. I sighed and packed my belongings. I picked up my bag and smiled at Rima. She made her usual pleading eyes but I shook my head. “No you’re going to do it by yourself this time. I want you to learn the meaning hard work.” I said and scoffed pretending that she was angry with me. I chuckled and leaned closer to her ear to whisper. “Come on Rima if you work hard I will buy ice cream.” And she smiled and turned to face him.

“That means I’ll meet Matt right?” she asked and I gave her a fake smile. But in the end I shook my head as no.

“I’m sorry but I don’t know if he wants to see you.”  I lied knowing that Matt probably would die to know her. If what he said last night was true. She made her pleading eyes and hugged me tight. I sighed and pushed her away. “Fine I’ll talk to him but you have to work.” I said hoping that she would bore and she wouldn’t work in the end. She nodded, grabbed her bag and left the class waving me good-bye. ‘I don’t want to see him going out with her.’ And my eyes widened. ‘What did I just think?’ I slapped myself for real this time. I didn’t like him.

“So Rima made you angry and in response you slap yourself.” I heard some saying and turned to face him. I was ready to shout but my words stuck to my throat. It was Jack. “Sorry to bother you. But I wanted to ask you something.” He said and I nodded. “Would you like to go a date with me tomorrow?” he said and my cheeks became red. I nodded unable to speak anything. He smiled and walked a bit closer to me. “I’ll meet you at the center at the ten o’clock.” He spoke again and I nodded. “Okay bye then.” He said and waved me good-bye.

“Was that real just now?” I asked myself in disbelief. I nodded and a smiled appeared on my face. “Yes, yes I am going out with him.” I shouted and grabbed my bag and ran outside.

   I ran back at home as fast as I could. I was so happy. I couldn’t believe it that I was just asked out. It would be my first date and I was exciting. I opened the door or maybe slapped because Mello came with a worry look. I put my shoes to the floor and ran upstairs to my room waving at Mello in the process. I threw the bag to my bed and I started jumping of happiness like a fan girl who just met her idol. After five minutes I changed into my casual clothes and walked back downstairs.

  I walked to the living room and saw Mello sitting on the red couch. I smiled and hid the bar of chocolate behind me. I sat across him and tried to understand what he was looking at. He looked at my eyes for a while and spoke. “I need you to do me a favor.” He said and looked at him confused. “I want you to go and buy bars of chocolate.” He said and I smiled sweetly. Now it was his turn to be confused. “Why are you smiling at me?” he said and stood up and sat next to him this time.

“Close your eyes for me.” I said and he backed away from me.

“What the hell for?” he shouted a bit but I gave him a glare. He sighed in annoyance and closed them. “Now what?” he said a bit lower this time. I giggled and quietly opened the bar carefully not to make any noise.

“Now open your mouth.” I said and he sighed again but in the end he obeyed. I broke a little piece and put it in his mouth. Suddenly he opened his eyes and looked at me.

“You know if you had it you could tell me. It’s stupid to play games like this.” He said and grabbed the chocolate. I gave him a smile. His cheeks were red.

“But you look so cute when someone messes with you.” I said and he gave me a death glare.

“Shut the fuck up.” He shouted and bitted his chocolate. I put my hand at the forehead and took a dramatic pose.

“Mello you’re so mean to me. And here I thought you cared for me.” I said and his blush became worst.

“Really shut up.” He said and looked away. I giggled and Matt came into the room. He looked at us confused. I gave a smile but Mello just scoffed.

“Why are you shouting like that?” he said and I looked at Mello. Matt chuckled and sat across us. “Come one Mello don’t be in such bitching mood.” He said and smiled again.

“I am not in such bitching mood.”He shouted at Matt and turned back to his chocolate. “And that reminds me why haven’t you buy chocolate bars yet?” he glared at Matt who only sighed in response.  He stood up and grabbed his car keys from the coffee table.

“Hey!” I shouted and they looked at me. “Have anyone of you looked at the fridge?” I said and Mello sighed. I turned my gaze back to him.

“I have and it’s empty.” He said and looked at me. “No wonder why are you so slim.” He said and I heard Matt chuckled from behind. I glared at him and he smirked.

“It’s the truth Lolita.” He said and I sighed. Matt grabbed my hand and dragged me with him. “Mello, we’ll be back shortly. Don’t destroy the house in the process.” He shouted and ignored Mello’s yelling.

  We arrived at the grocery shop after a while. Matt wanted to come with his car but there was no way to get into this car while he was the driver. We entered the shop and it was empty. Only Mr. Wang was in there. I sighed and walked to grab a basket. Matt followed from behind. I could hear him playing with his PSP. I turned and faced him. Quickly I grabbed his console and put it inside my pocket. He glared at me and I glared him back. “Give it back Lolita.” He said I could swear he was angry. I shook my head and turned my attention to the selves.

“I’ll give it back to you when we finished shopping. I know you only a day you can’t expect me to buy ingredients to you without knowing what you like.” I said and he sighed. But from the corner of my eye I saw him smirking. He leaned closer to me and blushed by feeling his breath to my ear.

“I didn’t know you cared about me ____.” He said. I almost let the basket fell on the floor when I heard him whispering my name. He made it sounding so nice. It was like it was made for him to say it. I really like the sound of it. I snapped v=back to reality and looked at him.

“And Mello.” I said and turned to face the shelves again. “I am going to make past tonight. Well how it’s sound?” I said and he nodded. “I see you like pasta a lot don’t you.” I said and giggled. He nodded. I put three packs in my basket. Then we grabbed ten bars of chocolate. “That’s to many.” I said and Matt shook his head as no.

“We’ll need to buy more tomorrow.” He said and my eyes widened. He noticed this and looked at you confused. “What?” he asked.

“I’m so jealous. If he eats that much chocolate and his body is so good he’s lucky.” I said and his hit my foot hard to the floor. “I want to be like that too.” I whined like a little child. He chuckled and put his hand under my chin forcing me to look at him.  He didn’t wear his goggles allowed me to look at his eyes. I never had so close look to his eyes. They had the same color as the forest itself. They were so beautiful. If I could wake everyday and face those eyes I would be happy. He noticed my staring and smirked.

“Lolita you have a nice body too.” He said and blushed terribly. “And if I could see it without the towel wrapped around it I could be surer about it.” He said and I almost fainted. He chuckled darkly and spoke again. “You’re so easy to mess with Lolita.” He said and laughed louder. I punched hard on the shoulder and he took a few steps away.

“Don’t call me Lolita. And stop mess with me you prevent.” I shouted and he smiled. I thought he was about to do something dirty again and prepared myself to punch him again. But instead of that he bowed causing me to blush again. ‘Damn it.’ I thought and he chuckled again.

“See it’s not my dirty comments which causing you to blush. Maybe you like me Lolita.” He said and I turned my back to him trying to hide my blush. I crossed my arms and tapped my foot to the floor.

“Keep dreaming game boy.” I said and moved to the next shelf.

“I’ll dream don’t you worry.” I heard him whispering and turned and looked at him. He ignored me and begun playing his game again. I gasped by how the PSP was at his hands again.

“Did you say anything? And how did you steal that from me?” I asked and he ignored me. I sighed in annoyance and kept scanning the prices. After a while we were ready to leave the shop but Mr. Wang came close to us. I smiled and bowed. “Hello Mr. Wang.” And he smiled back. He noticed Matt who was too busy playing his game and laughed.

“So this is your boyfriend?” he said and me and Matt blushed at the same time. “O … look at you. You’re so cute together. Anyway don’t let me keep you. Good night.” He said and returned to his office. I sighed and left the shop with Matt.

   We were in our way to home and I had to say that this was the worst stroll I had ever had. None of us spoke and t was kind of awkward after a while. I sighed and Matt turned his attention to me. “Are you okay?” he asked and nodded.

“Wait! Are you feeling alright?” I said and he shyly nodded and turned his attention to the game.

“Can I ask something?” he said and I nodded but I was sure that he didn’t see it so I had to spoke up.

“Hit me with it.” I said and he chuckled quietly.

“When you came home this evening Mello told me that you were jumping and … screaming of happiness. Did something good happen?” he asked and I looked at him confused. I knew that we were friends and I was glad about it but I knew him only one day. No sorry I mean two. Why did he care so much? I supposed there was nothing bad to tell him about it.

“Because tomorrow morning I have a date.” I said and looked at him. His eyes were at the screen but he wasn’t pushed any bottom and he had stopped. I smiled and went closer to him. “What did the famous game boy lost the game?” I said with a teasing tune. He laughed nervously and started walking faster.

“Yeah it looks like it.” I heard him saying and tried to catch up with him. What was wrong with him? I knew that he hated losing but that was a bit too much. After a while we reached the house and Matt almost ran to the play room. I sighed and went find Mello. He was at the living room as always staring the beyond. I was a bit worried about Matt’s strange behavior so I thought to tell him about it. I approached him and he looked at me. “Mello sorry to bother you but can I talk to you about something?” I asked and he looked at me and then the bags. I giggled and gave him one bar which he gladly took.

“So what’s up?” he asked and took a bite of his chocolate. I sat next to him and looked at the floor.

“It’s about Matt actually.” I said. There was no need to say something more to grab his attention. He stopped eating and looked at me concerned. “You see in our way here at home we were talking about something but after this he became a bit … distance.” I finished and looked at him.

“Can you tell what you two talked about?” he asked and I nodded.

“He asked me why I was so happy this evening and I told him it was because I had a date tomorrow.” I said and suddenly he became … pale. “Are you okay?” I asked and he nodded. He stood up and headed to the play room.

“I’ll talk to him so don’t you worry about it.” He said and left. I sighed and picked the bags. I left for the kitchen.

 I finished coking the dinner after awhile and went to the playroom to invite them to join me. I didn’t knock the door because I thought there was no need for that. I opened it and I was ready to call them but my words stuck at my throat. I saw Mello checked his short gun and Matt was at the computer hacking I thought. When they saw me and they froze as well. None of us spoke for a while. I kept staring at the gun. Have I been so wrong about these guys? Were they going to be the cause of my death?
