I was aware of my condition but I had no choice but to run away. I would never convent to them or to him not matter how much he needed me. It was all about pride and hate nothing more or less. I didn’t want a life like that. A choice had to been made he said to me trying to excuse his actions. What a liar he was. No I would turn but now. I would leave him handle his own damn problems. Besides I was the second in the family I was so important to them. I knew it from the moment they declared it to me. I existed only to bring fortune to the family even if for me was unfortunate.
The sound of sirens filled the air and bright lights cut the night sky’s view. The sound of the angry dogs’ barks hearing not too far from behind me. I had to run. I had to get away from them. I didn’t belong here. This wasn’t my place. I tripped as I ran between the woods but I had to run away. She gave me a chance and I would take it. I would be free. I would find my pace to this world even if it meant I had to search for it until the end of my days. ‘This I swear.’ I thought as I ran into the night.
The morning light forced me to open my eyes slowly. I blinked them a few times until I was full of aware of my surroundings. I sighed and slowly stood up from the laying position and let the covers slipped down to my lap. “This dream again.” I muttered and looked around. My room was still dark as the abyss but the sun had found its way to get in.
I threw the covers away from me and stood up. I yawned and walked to the close window and open it. The sound of today’s street traffic reached my ears. I smiled as I looked up and saw the bright sky. I would never get bored this sight. I wished I could stay here and just stared at it. “You’ll be late_____.” I heard someone shouting at me and I snapped out of my day dreaming and looked down. I saw the shopkeeper Mr. Jiang staring up at me with a smile.
“I am sorry to worry you Mr. Jiang.” I said and he chuckled as he waved me off. I smiled and got into the house to get ready for today’s school day. I opened my wardrobe and looked around to find my uniform. I smiled as I grabbed and started getting ready.
I had left my hone seven years ago and started a new life here at Lucis. I was still a teenage girl but I would survive fine at my own. I paid the school’s funds with the scholar ship I had earned and worked as a waitress at a small café for the rest of my payments. I was fine. I wouldn’t go back. I had decided it and I would keep that way.
I checked myself at the mirror and nodded my head with a smile as I spine around one time. I liked this uniform a lot even if it was pain to wear it. I took a deep breath and grabbed my back from the chair and walked to the door of my apartment. I looked behind me one last time and smiled. “I’m off.” I yelled but nothing was heard beside me. I sighed and looked at the floor. “Right, I am alone.” I said and walked out of the door.
I ran downstairs and smiled as I waved good morning to one of my oldest neighbors Miss Green. “Good morning Miss Green!” I said and she smiled.
“Good morning to you too ____. Have a nice day at school.” She said and I nodded as I ran off. I made my way out of the building and saw Miss Jiang waiting for me at his usual spot. I smiled and walked up to him.
“You’re late ____.” He said with a smile and I nodded.
“I’m sorry.” I said and bowed my head a little to show my respect to the man. He was a kind man. He had a family and he helped me countless times at the past along with his wife. What a nice people. When I grew up I would find a way to repay their kindness.
“No time for this.” He said and passed me a red apple. “This is for you.” He said with a smile and I shook my head as I extended back to him.
“No. This is too much. I will not-‘” I tried to convinced him take it back but he shook his head.
“It’s just an apple ____. Go now you will be late.” He said and I nodded as I stocked the apple at my back. I smiled to him and waved him as I ran to my school. It was a good day and I could tell from the sun. It was shined bright today. The streets were packed today. Crowds of people fill the streets of the big city. I stopped and waited for the green light to lit on to let me pass across the street.
I lifted my gaze from the ground and looked across me only to freeze on the spot. There was a woman across the street. She looked happy. Maybe she was pregnant. But something was off with her. I swallowed hard and placed my palm at my chest and turned into a small fist. She would die soon. I could feel it. Before I left my home I had a small accident that had almost killed me. Since then I had this strange powers to see who would die and then it was that Light at the sky every night. I was going crazy.
I heard a sound of laughed and lifted my eyes from the ground and looked up. I saw the young woman passing by me with a big smile at her face as she held her boyfriend’s arm. I wanted to badly to take her hand and stopped her. I wanted to explain her to warn her she was about to die but I knew she would think of me as crazy and maybe I was. I sighed and ran my way to school.
I walked into the class and took a sit at the back of the room where no one was bothered to look. I didn’t want any contact with anyone around here. The less people knew my existence the less danger there was for me to be found. I was sure my family was searching for me but I knew how to hide as long as no one knew me. When I would finish the school I would travel far from here. ‘Hey it’s her again.’ I heard them whispering and I sighed in my mind.
‘She’s strange isn’t she?’ another one said.
‘Yeah. What’s she doing here?’ another one was heard.
‘I heard her parents left her.’ It said and the whispers kept on. I looked at the desk’s surface and closed my eyes trying to block them out. This would happen every day. I didn’t know why they cared at all. I was quite most of the time trying not to cause any trouble.
‘Why don’t they leave me alone?’ I thought and I heard the door closing. I looked up and saw the teacher waling in. ‘My hero.’ I thought and the teacher stared at us.
“Open to page 39 please.” He said and everyone obeyed to his command.
I sighed as I made my way to the café where I would work for a few hours before I want back home and read my homework. I was tired from school but I would manage. People kept walking passing by me without noticed me which made me glad. I only wished this could happen at your as well. Why did they care about me? I wasn’t doing anything wrong. Maybe it was because I was an excellent student?
I shook my head refusing to keep thinking about tit and looked up only to see the woman I saw this morning at the screen. She was dead. She was murdered. I looked at floor with sad eyes and a tear rolled down my cheek. Everyone was just passing by ignoring the news, ignoring even my standing figure. This world was selfish. Sometimes… I thought… I thought if it was worth to be saved? I looked up again only to see that the chapter had changed. ‘They don’t even value the life.’ I thought as I walked away from the TV store.
After a few minutes of walking I finally reached the store I was supposed to work. I opened the door and saw that it was full of customers. I sighed in annoyance and walked in. I made my way to the kitchen where my boss was. She saw me and crossed her arms. “You’re late _____” she stated bluntly and I looked at the floor ashamed as I bowed to her.
“I’m sorry for the delay Ms. Black.” I said and she smiled as she sighed and placed her hands at my shoulders. I looked up at her and nodded. “I shall go and change.” I said and she nodded. “Thank you.” I said and walked off.

I wore and sighed as I closed the small cupboard. I hated to be dressed like a small doll but this would me my meal ticket tonight and until I graduated. I walked out of the changing room and bumped into Bell. She smiled at me and ran off to the changing room. Yeah her sift was over and now it was my turn. I hated here.
I walked to many tables and served them. Some of them were full of perverts but we kicked them out as soon as they started the usual sexual harassment. It midnight and all of the stuff had been gathered to the bar to celebrate today’s good work. I was sitting alone at the corner of the room drinking my hot chocolate without having anyone annoying me. I preferred that way. When you were on the run you learnt that relationships weren’t a good thing. “Hey _____.” I heard someone saying and looked up from my cup to find Sora.
“Hello Sora.” I said with a smile and he sat down across me. “Is everything ok?” I asked and he nodded.
“We’re going to a club. Would you like to come? I know you have school tomorrow but I heard it will snow and schools will be closed.” He said with a smile and I giggled. Sora was one of the guys at the café I was close to. He was a nice guy and he had a girlfriend. “So is that a yes?” he asked and I shook my head.
“Sorry but I still have homework to do maybe so other time.” I said and he sighed.
“You always say that.” He pouted and looked at me. “You know life is too short. You have to live a little.” He said and I nodded with a smile.
“I am aware of that. But tonight I am tired and I have to do my assignments.” I said and he nodded as he extend his hand at ruffled my hair.
“Then I’ll see you tomorrow I suppose.” He said and I nodded smiling.
“Good night.” I said and he nodded as he stood up.
“Good night and be careful at your way home.” He said and waved me.
It wasn’t like I didn’t want to go but it was too risky to go. What if they saw me? No I wouldn’t be discovered. I wouldn’t go back to that damn life. I wanted to be free. I looked outside the window and saw the water drops on the glass. I sighed and stood up. “I better get going.” I said to myself and went to change.
I ran at the dark alleys holding my school bag close to my chest making sure it wouldn’t get wet but it too late. It was raining hard and I was wet. I had to take a short cut before I got sick in the rain or something. I turned around and ran at the dark street. As I ran my feet slipped and I fell on the wet ground.
I groaned in pain and looked at my knee to see it was red from the hit. I sighed and cursed under my breath. I looked up and saw the bright light at the sky. Even if it was raining I could still see it. What was that anyway? “Look what we have here boys?” I heard someone saying from behind me and I turned around to see the same gang we kicked out of the café today. “Aren’t you the little waitress?” he said and laughed.
My eyes widened in horror and stood up as I grabbed my bag from the ground. I wouldn’t sit here alone in the night with him. It was dangerous. I turned around to leave but the moment I turned someone slapped across the face making me lose the balance and fall backwards landing on my butt. My bag flew a meter away from me and I looked up with wide eyes only to find another one of them. He looked down at me with eyes full of hunger. I panicked. I touched my cheeks and winced in pain at the touch. “Hey don’t break her yet. We need her for tonight’s party.” He said and I turned and looked at them assuming he was the leader.
“Party?’ I mumbled but he heard me and laughed.
“Yeah. We will be celebrating and you will be serving us.” He said and laughed as the others soon did the same. I knew what he meant by that and I was scared.
‘What should I do?’ I thought. I felt myself shaking in fear as I was paralyzed. I felt a strange aura in my body getting stronger and stronger. Maybe if I did that I would be able to defend myself. But still that would bring the cops to me and then their questions and then they would find me. ‘What should I do?’ I thought again as I stared the ground.
“So my little- ahh.” The next thing I heard was a winced of pain coming from the drunk. I looked up and I saw a boy around my age maybe holding the drunk’s wrist as his other hand was at his pocket. He was staring at the ground not too interest at what was happening around him. “Who are you?” the drunk asked and the boy tightened the hold around the wrist making the man to fall t his knees yelling in pain.
“I suggest you and your friends to run …. Now!” he warned them and everyone exchanged glances before they ran away. “The same goes for you.” He said and the man yelled in pain.
“Right. I’m sorry I am leaving.” He said and stood up holding his wrist and ran away.
The boy turned and looked at my fallen figure as I stared back at him with eyes full of sadness and fear. What else could I do? The man walked closer to me and my whole body tensed once he was standing in front of me. I kept staring up at him as he slowly knelt down and looked at me. “Who are you?” he asked with a soft voice almost above a whisper.
I kept staring however. No words were coming out of my lips now my neck was dry making it harder for me to speak. The boy raised his hand and slowly stroked my red cheek observing it maybe. He had his eyes on me never looked away like he was trying to memorized me. It was strange. When he touched me at first I felt tensed. But now after his gently movements his leather glove did on my cheek made me feel safe.
The rain drops strange to slow down until the storm had finally stopped. The moon’s light shined down at us and I finally saw his face, his handsome face. He had short, spiky, black hair and blue eyes. My eyes widened in the sight. Who was this guy? What is he doing here? I couldn’t bring myself to ruin the moment he and I shared right now. Maybe I was lost in his eyes.
His hair were wet like mine and small water drops slipped down from his hair and rolled down to his cheek or fell on the ground. The boy stoked my cheek gently one more time making me winced in pain as I closed my eyes. I shouldn’t be doing this. I shouldn’t be so close to him. I found myself desperate to lean at his touch. The feeling of safety he was giving me by only touching me it was something I never felt before. It was new to me. I t was scary.
I regained self control and moved my head away from him signaling him to stop. Thankfully he did get the message because he stopped. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He was still staring at me with those blue eyes if his that looked like the night sky. “Thank you.” I finally said. I finally found the courage to speak to him. The boy looked at me and nodded.
“It was nothing.” He replied calmly and softly. I nodded in response unsure what to do. No one had rescued me before.
“Hey what are you doing you will get wet.” I heard someone saying and looked up to see a boy with short messy blonde hair running to us.
“I’m wet.” The hero of the stated and the boy patted.
“I noticed it that already.” He said and looked at me. “Oh… and you is this?” he asked pointed at the little old me. The boy turned and looked at me. I kept staring back at him. What was wrong with me? I should just thank him and leave before he asked more info about me. I looked at the floor trying to avoid his gaze but it was impossible I could feel on me.
‘Please don’t look.’ I pleaded in my mind. I took a deep breath and looked at him. “What’s your name?” I asked and he looked at me a bit surprise from my bluntness. I blushed and looked back at the ground. This wasn’t the question I wanted to ask. I wanted to thank him and leave. But it just slipped out of my lips.
“You don’t know who I am?” he said a bit surprised and I shook my head as I looked back at him.
“Well this is young man is-“the blonde tried to explain but the boy stepped forward and knelt down in front of my face.
“Noctis.” He stated and I looked at him confused. “My name is Nocits ” He said and I kept staring at him.
